The Schmetz B27 SD1 Size 80 industrial sewing machine needles, also known as MY 1023 SD1, UY 191 GS SD1, DCx27 SD1, and RIM 27 SD1 (CANU 03:36ME1), are no longer in active production.

These needles featured the SD1 round point with a small triangular tip, which combined the characteristics of a round point with a slight cutting effect. This made them well-suited for achieving straight, tidy seams with reduced fabric damage, particularly on fine and delicate textiles.

SD1 Point – Round Point with Small Triangular Tip

The SD1 point had a unique design:

• Around 10% of the stitch hole was cut, while 90% was displaced by the conical round point “R”.

• This created a clean, straight seam with a smaller perforation than a standard cutting point.

• Perfect for applications where a sharp appearance and minimal fabric disruption were required.
